Island Brac - Milna

/ Sunday, March 4, 2012 /
Milna is a lovely port situated on the western coast of island Brac, in a bay also called Milna. It is the safest and the best natural port on the island Brac.

The ACI Marina Milna has 200 berths and 20 shore storage places. It is opened during the whole year. Nearby, along the coast there are numerous beautiful bays with sand and graveled beaches (Pasika, Osibova, Lucice, and Maslinova). A nicely decorated bathing-place is situated in the Vlaska bay.

Milna was developed in the 16th century. The church Gospe od Blagovijesti from 1783 has a monumental Baroque facade and a Rococo plastering series from the early 19th century. In the Osibova bay there are ruins of a gothic church. During the Napoleonic wars the Russian fleet had its base in Milna.
Sports and recreation lovers have five-a-side football fields, volleyball and basketball courts, and bowling and tennis tables at their disposal. A couple of diving centers on Milna provide beginner and children courses, as well as advanced courses and diving excursions. Milna is suitable for numerous excursions, both on and out of island Brac. The surroundings of Milna are ideal for cycling, hiking, and free climbing. The coast offers excellent conditions for sailing, or for just bathing at some of the beautiful beaches amongst the many hidden bays. Milna is connected to Split by ferryboat and catamaran services, via Supetar (20 kilometers).
